History:
Since 1974, Little Ballet Theatre, inc (LBT) has provided award-winning dance instruction and professional performances to the Lower Columbia Coastal Area under the direction of it’s distinguished founding Artistic Director, Jeanne Peterson, Mrs. Peterson established Maddox Dance Studio in 1949, focusing on classical ballet training and continues to teach there today.
Each spring, LBT’s dance members participate in the Clatsop Community College’s Arts on Stage, performing his/her own choreographed dance at the Young Choreographer’s Showcase. Each summer, LBT sponsors the North Coast Summer Dance Camp, providing guest instructors from major dance companies and company affiliated schools, and inviting students from the Pacific Northwest.
The annual gala holiday production of the Nutcracker ballet, including professional guest artists, over 100 local dancers, nearly as many volunteer staff, and a professional 45 piece orchestra has been feature nationally by NBC’s Today Show and has been invited to perform in Pendleton with the Oregon East Symphony. The three traditional holiday performances are the jewel of North Coast holiday events.
